"A Christmas Carol" at Community Players. They've been doing it for ten years, and it shows. Dave Hutson has put together the most faithful and comprehensively satisfying presentation of the old solstice war horse you're likely to see among the currently available varietals -- all candlelight, fog and artfully harmonized carols… The whole affair has the straightforward resolve and joy of the best community theatre. I recommend that everyone who can schlep out to the far reaches of Bell Road to take it all in.

Ebenezer Scrooge ranks among the most famous of Christmas villains.  And The Community Players team has a ten year track record in Christmas Carol creations which continues with David Hutson’s take on Dickens' festive cautionary tale in this production. The Community Players venue has been dressed up by Hutson as a six tier stage to look as picturesque as a Christmas card, complete with lanterns, constant London fog, and almost a ghastly, deathly feeling in the air, which is, as some productions miss, very true to Dickens’ tale.  Even the nice change of pace in that the creepy streets ghosts from Dickens’ tale were not left out of the story!  It is a ghost story, after all.

~TRUDY’S TRUTH IN THEATRE~

I must say this: not to sound over the top, but for the whole of the play I truly felt like I was floating through the haunted imagination of Charles Dickens himself. Hutson decided to produce this adaptation in a style called "story theater," and he stayed as true to Dickens’ original text as possible. His efforts truly paid off, as this is one of the best plays I’ve seen in a long time, perhaps ever. And I don't say that lightly.

~Tommy Rocco (A&E Writer)~

Unbelievable performance!  To be honest, when I walked in the door, I asked myself – Oh boy, what have I got into? – but once the play started, I realized this was a top notch performance.  All actors were amazing!  Great job!  Somehow, you must branch out to bigger audiences, people need to see your productions! Thank you for a great evening of drama at it’s best!!!
